Choose the right tool
Polls gather votes between configured choices. Suggestions collect ideas with community voting and a staff review state. Both are part of the core community toolkit.
Create a poll
Use /poll or the dashboard to configure a channel, prompt and options. Make the question neutral and keep the choices distinct. Use /poll-close or the supported campaign controls to close voting.
Collect suggestions
Configure the destination for /suggest. Members can vote through the published controls. Staff use /suggestion-review to record the idea’s review outcome.
Communicate decisions
A popular suggestion is not an automatic commitment to implement it. Add useful reasons when reviewing ideas and keep the community informed when scope or timing changes.
Protect the discussion
Choose suitable channels and moderation rules. Voting is not a substitute for handling abuse, account compromise or appeals privately with staff.
